Ladies Knockout Competitions
Knockouts are to be played on the 18 hole Channels course except for
the Winter Knockouts which can be played on the Wet course if 16 or
more, holes are open.
1-In the fixing of the matches: It shall be the duty
of the player/s whose name/s appear first to contact their
opponents for the purpose of fixing a date to play.
A choice of three days must be offered,
including one weekend day.
If they have not done so when
half the time allotted for the round has expired, the opponents
should offer three dates.
2-On the last day of the knockout round, if only one
person (or pair) turns up on the tee at 9.0.am Monday - Saturday or
12 noon Sunday she takes the game. It is not permitted to toss a
coin over the phone when neither player is available on the last day
of the round. If no result appears by the closing dater in any
round, both players, or pairs will be deemed to have scratched.
3-Adequate time will be given to arrange matches. In
all rounds an extension of time will only be granted in the
event of Course Closure.
A round will be extended only if the course is closed
for play on its closing date; the extension will include the next
full weekend the course is open. This decision would be given by
the Lady Captain and Competition Secretary of the year.
4-The winners name and score (as required by
CONGU) to be entered on the sheet by the closing date of each round.
5-Sudden death play-off if level after 18 holes.
6-Knockout matches may start off any tee but must
avoid Societies or other Competitions. If the match starts from a
tee other than the first due to congestion on that tee, both parties
must be in agreement on this.
7-If players mutually agree, in inclement weather
a game may be abandoned and restarted on a later date,
provided it is within the specified time limit. The replay must be
from where the game was abandoned.
8-In the summer competition, if a lady member is in two finals, the
singles must be played before finals day. If neither can agree on a
date, then it must be played the Saturday before finals day, if one
lady cannot play on the said Saturday then the other lady will be
given a walkover.
Ladies Eclectic Competition
This is a fun competition with the aim being to create a composite
card of the best scores achieved by you over a maximum of ten
rounds.
There are two separate Eclectic Competitions - Winter runs from 1st
October to 31st March (over 13 holes) and Summer runs
from 1st April to 30th September (over 18
holes).
The entry fee is £2.00, payable when your name is added to the
current competition sheet and the first card is played.
You have two attempts to complete a card (under stroke play
conditions). If the first card is not completed the scores from
that card are still included once the second (fully completed) card
is submitted. If for any reason you are unable to complete either of
your first two cards you will no longer qualify for the competition.
Once the initial round has been completed, as you are only
interested in bettering your scores on certain holes, you may return
incomplete cards. Every card must be returned and signed, even if
there are no improvements on any hole.
You may submit a maximum of ten cards during the competition but no
more than two cards may be submitted per week (Sunday to Saturday).
You should mark the sequential number on each card entered.
A card may be scored outside a recognised club
competition, provided it is marked by a player with a valid
handicap. Cards may be scored in conjunction with medal rounds, but
not a Stableford competition provided both entry sheets are signed
prior to playing.
You are responsible for entering the date in the Eclectic Book,
prior to playing each round. Failure to do this, to sign the card,
or the marker signing the card will result in all scores from that
card being declared void. The card will still be included towards
the total of ten cards.
The final result is calculated by taking each player’s composite
gross score, less 5/8th of their handicap at the closing date of the
relevant competition. In the event of a tie, normal count-back rules
will apply.
First and second prizes are awarded in both Silver (20 and below)
and Bronze (21-36) handicap sections. Eclectic cards do not count
for handicap purposes.
Ladies Winter League
1-Competition will be played over the channels course
on set dates and times laid down by the committee, namely one each
month October to February/March inclusive.
2-Format – a pairs four ball better ball stableford
league competition comprising of five rounds (when weather permits)
played over 13 holes.
3-Full
handicap allowance, no handicap limit, open to 7 and 6 ½ day members
(5 day members may enter but will not be
able to play in the final).
With
committee approval colt and junior members may also enter if they
are aged 14+ with a handicap of 20 or less and playing with a lady
member.
4-There will be one prize for the highest stableford
score overall. The top six eligible pairs will then contest a bogey
final with 3/4 handicap allowance with a further prize going to the
winners. (if a team is unavailable to play the next highest scoring
pair will move up).
5-If any
pair will not be represented they must inform the competition
secretary (or her designated alternative) before the start of the
match (giving as much notice as possible).
Failure to do so will result in 10 points being
deducted from their overall score.
6-All cards
are to be made out by the entrants and returned to the score card
box or input to the computer where applicable. The card must
contain both player’s names in the same order as on the draw sheet
along with their handicaps, even if only one of the pair is
playing. Failure to do so will result in disqualification (from
that round).
7-Any disputes must be settled with the competition
secretary (or her designated alternative) before the result is
posted.
Ladies Winter Stableford Competitions
It has being decided by the Committee to once again have two
stableford competitions (18 & 13 holes) for the months December –
February inclusive. Prizes will be awarded to 1st & 2nd
place in both the 18 and 13 hole competitions.
Please note the following:-
You must elect which competition you wish to enter when putting your
name on the entry sheet by placing 13 or 18 in the relevant column.
You will also need to confirm this choice when signing the book on
the day of the competition. (The page will be drawn up in a
slightly different way).
This will mean that there are effectively two competitions played
across both days. One being played over 13 holes and the other over
18.
You must ensure that if you choose to play in the 18 hole
competition that at least one other of your playing partners are
also prepared to play 18 holes.
Although you may elect to play in the 13 hole competition you may
continue to play a full 18 holes but your score will only count up
to the 13th hole.
If you sign up for the 18 hole competition and leave the course
before completing the full 18 holes you will “nil return” your card.
On the day of the competition should you decide that you wish to
change from 18 to 13 holes or vice versa, this must be done before
signing the book and you must ensure that your playing partners are
not going to be inconvenienced by this i.e. originally two out of
three were going to play 18 holes but with one party changing their
minds there is no longer going to be a marker available for the
third player to continue in their 18 hole competition.
You may play in the competition on both days but you must play 18
holes on one occasion and 13 holes on the other. However, if
considering playing on both days, in view of the minimal time
allotted to the tee closure at the weekends I would ask that you
give due consideration to the business ladies who will only have the
opportunity to play on the weekend.
If you
fail to note your selection of either 13 or 18 holes in the
competition book when signing up for the competition it will be
taken that you intend to play what is detailed on the draw sheet but
if you have also failed to indicate your intention on the draw
sheet, then your card will be void. |
