Channels Report 22nd January
Once more the Channels
ladies' first draw in the "Mail on Sunday" was a
tough one, against Chelmsford but with the advantage
of a home draw. In the past these have always been
close,this match was no exception.
First to finish was
Sandra Knight, the Channels team Captain, who lost
to Sonia Kingsworth. Toko Fetcher brought in the
first Channels win against Pam Thornton and then
Channels' Toni Brookwell came back from 4 down to
halve her match at the 18th against Chelsea Launden.
All level with two
matches to play,Channels' Tanya Greaves held her
nerve to halve at the 18th green against Marilyn
Boorman leaving the final result to be played for by
Channels' Jackie Thompson and Chelmsford's Maria
Hilsden. Jackie was one up on the 18th tee and the
final putts for a win or a trip up the 19th went
Jackie's way with a six footer going in the hole.
The result, a very
welcome 3 - 2 win for Channels after what had been a
very tight match.
For the men at
Channels this past weekend was "Winter League"
time.
The Saturday
competition was won Keith Wiggin and Mike Smith
who came in with 47 points. Bill and Campbell
Hall were second with 43 points followed in
third place by Dan and Pat Matthews on 42.

45 points. Dave Carne and Phillip Searle were

Adams, both pairs came in with 43 points.
